Vita M. Capalbo, 85, formerly of Grafton St. Worcester, passed away peacefully December 2, 2007 after a three day stay in Autumn Village,surrounded by her loving family. Vita would have celebrated her 86th birthday on Thursday December 6, 2007. Born in Worcester she was the beloved daughter of Nicola and Rose (Ritacco) Capalbo and has lived in Worcester all her life. She is survived by her loving sister Vera A. Belsito with whom she lived and received excellent care during her long illness.Vita is also survived by a brother George Capalbo and his wife Jane of Millbury, and many nieces and nephews, among them Rosann M. Phelps of Worcester, and great nieces and nephews, including Susan J. Martin and her husband Craig of Sterling, and Lisa M. Johnson and her husband Douglas of Tampa Bay, Florida. Vita also leaves many great great nieces and nephews including C.J. Martin of Sterling and Lindsay and Zachary Johnson of Tampa Bay. She was predeceased by five brothers, Domenic, Angelo, Leo, Charles and Joseph Capalbo. Vita was a hair stylist for many years at the Jordan Marsh Store before she retired, and previous to that for the Denholm and McKay Department Store in Worcester. Vita was a long time member of Our Lady Of Loreto Church and was an avid church goer, and devoted her life to caring for her parents.Vita enjoyed going to the beach, Foxwoods, and visiting Florida to see her great niece Lisa and her family. She also loved spending time with her great niece Susan and her family in Sterling especially her great great nephew C.J. Martin the youngest in the family who always made her smile. She loved to cook, knit, and really enjoyed socializing with her family and friends, and made many happy holidays for her nieces and nephews. Vita's funeral will be held Friday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Our Lady Of Loreto Church 33 Massasoit Rd.Calling hours in the funeral home are from 4-7PM on Thursday.
