Virginia M. "Ginnie" (Simone) Alano, Amato, of Worcester formerly of Shrewsbury and Ellenton Florida, passed away Tuesday July 22nd in the Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. Virginia was born in Shrewsbury; her parents were the late Ignazio and Margaret (Dellorto) Simone. She grew up in Shrewsbury, lived 26 years in Ellenton, Florida before returning in 2004. She was a member of St. Anne's Church, and the Froshinn Club. Ginnie loved to travel; she loved Las Vegas, and cruising the ocean. Her family was her most important interest, she cherished the time she could spend with her grandchildren most of all. Virginia is survived by her husband of 38 years John F. Amato; two sons, Alphonse Alano, Jr. and his wife Tara of Shrewsbury, Peter A. Alano and his wife Paula of Auburn; three cherished grandsons; Matthew, Michael and Christopher; two sisters, Julia Messina of Worcester and Angelina Caruso of Bradenton, Florida; many nieces and nephews. Her first husband Alphonse Alano, Sr. passed away in 1964, A son, Stephen Alano; Two brothers George "Skip" and Bernard "Blacky" Simone also pre deceased her. Ginnie worked over 10 years for the Manatee County Florida, school department before retiring. She previously worked for the University of Massachusetts Hospital. She was also a licensed Cosmetologist Virginia's funeral will be held Friday, July 25th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery. A period of visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 25th in the funeral home.
