Viola V.(Szafarowicz) Aktarian, 76, of Worcester died unexpectedly Friday January 18, 2008 in UMASS Medical Center after becoming ill at home earlier in the evening. Viola is survived by her best friend and devoted husband Ralph Aktarian, two loving daughters, Joyce Sullivan and her husband James of Worcester, Sandra Aktarian of North Oxford, five grandchildren whom she adored, Bryan, Robert, Bryanna,Amanda,and Arianne a sister in law Jennie Geissdorfer and her husband Walter, one nephew and one niece. A son Allen Aktarian predeceased her in 1998. Vi was born in Worcester and lived here all her life, She was a graduate of David Hale Fanning School.Vi was a seamstress for the Cottage Tailor for many years, and several other manufacturing companies before she retired. Viola loved to cook for family gatherings and the neighbors as well, she and Ralph enjoyed having many family and neighborhood parties. she enjoyed playing cards, and trips to the Casino but most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and being with her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be missed by her family and friends. A funeral service for Viola will be held Wednesday morning in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 370 Plantation St at 10:30 AM. Calling hours in the funeral home will be held from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Tuesday. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
