Sophie A. (Romeo) Ohan, 84, of Worcester passed away Saturday, February 16th, 2008 in the Jewish Healthcare Center surrounded by her loving family after an illness. Sophie's beloved husband and partner of 43 years, Henry H. Ohan, passed away in 2003. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Annmarie Ohan and her husband Mark Bozzini of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. Two brothers, Anthony and Russell Romeo and a sister, Catherine Venincasa, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester; her parents were Francesco and Carmela (Bonofiglio) Romeo. She graduated from Becker Junior College and earned her bachelors degree in English from Clark University. She has lived here all her life. Sophie worked as an administrative assistant for the Worcester County Hospital more than 15 years before retiring in 1988. Sophie was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church. She was a devoted wife and mother, who loved her family and cherished the moments she had with them. She will be sorely missed. Her family would like to take this opportunity to thank the workers and staff of the Jewish Healthcare center, Dr. Sheila Trugman, Katie Juncknow, Laura King and the Jewish Home Hospice Team for the extraordinary care and kindness provided to their mother. Sophie's funeral will be held Thursday, February 21st from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Entombment will be in St. John Mausoleum. A period of visitation will be held Thursday, February 21st , from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
