Samuel R. "Sam" Damato, 72, of Worcester died Thursday, July 10th in the Umass Memorial Healthcare- Memorial campus. Sam leaves a son, Samuel M. Damato of Worcester; four siblings, his twin Nancy Rossi, Antoinette Scola, and Charles Damato all of Worcester, and William Damato of North Grafton; a life long friend Richard Pierce of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. A brother Peter and two sisters, Laura Damato and Mary Germain pre deceased him. Sam was born in Skene, Mississippi, son of Samuel and Philomena (Gerardi) Damato. He was a U.S. Marines during the Korean War and has lived here all his life. Sam was a baker all his life. He worked for such places as Widoff's, Gentiles and Mattero's on Franklin. He once owned and operated D'Amico's Bakery on Shrewsbury St. A funeral mass will be held Monday, July 14th at 10:00 am in St Stephen's Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
