Ramona (Spirauskas) Lapidas, 59, passed away, Friday, February 22, 2008 with her family beside her at UMASS Memorial Medical Center. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Gary N. Lapidas, two sons, Scott Murray of Auburn and Capt. Gregory Lapidas, USAF, of Little Rock, Arkansas, her daughter, Tara Murray of Worcester; a brother Vito Spirauskas of Worcester; a sister Lillian Camarda of Worcester, her cherished granddaughter, Sierra Murray of Auburn; many nieces and nephews and her devoted dog, Gus. Ramona was born on April 23, 1948 in Ingolstadt, Germany, the daughter of Chester and Jadvyga Spirauskas. She was a graduate of Classical High School and earned her Bachelors degree in English from Worcester State College. Mrs. Lapidas was an accomplished artist and writer and was a finalist for the Golden Heart Award from the Romance Writers of America. She was a shamanic practitioner, a house and stone wall builder and enjoyed gardening. Ramona's funeral services are private.
