Nicolina R. (Verdi) Zollo,98, of Worcester died peacefully Thursday evening surrounded By her loving family in the St Francis Home. Her husband Gaetano Zollo died in 1965. Nicolina is survived by 3 sons; Vincent F.Zollo and his wife Marie of Worcester with whom she lived, Robert F.Zollo and his wife Katherine of Brimfield, and Joseph Zollo of Worcester, a daughter Congetta Rano and her husband Robert of Dennis, seven grandchildren, Robert, Sophia, Lawrence, Joseph, Robert, Marie, and Donna, and several great grandchildren. Nicolina was predeceased by a daughter Mary Rainville, a brother Aniello Verdi, and a sister Maria Belcufine. She was born in Worcester daughter of the late Pasquale and Antonetta (DeFillipo) Verdi and lived here all her life. She attended Worcester public Schools, and enjoyed being a homemaker. She worked at St. Vincent Hospital for several years before she retired. Nicolina was a former member of Our Lady Of Mt Carmel- St Ann Church, and is a member of Our Lady Of Loreto Church, and it's Women's Guild. She was a long time member of the former Bishop Wright Catholic Daughters Of America, and was a volunteer many years at the Worcester Age Center, and knitted for their Linus Project. She was also a past president of the San Vitaliano Women's Society. Nicolina was a skilled Knitter and also liked to Crochet. She enjoyed a good shopping spree. But most of all time spent with her family, She will be missed by all her friends and family. Nicolina's funeral will be held Tuesday January 22, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St.with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00AM in Our Lady Of Loreto Church. 33 Massasoit Rd. A calling hour will be held Tuesday Morning from 9:00AM to 10:30AM in the funeral home before leaving for church. Burial will be in St John's Cemetery.
