Natalie Longone

December 18, 1919 — January 28, 2008

Natalie J. (Ciampaglia) Longone, 88, died peacefully Monday, January 28, 2008 at the UMASS Memorial Hospital, in Worcester, Ma., surrounded by her loving family. She was a long term resident of Shrine Avenue in West Boylston before retiring to Spanish Lakes in Ft Pierce, FL where she spent many happy years with her husband Albert. They recently moved to Southgate in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts to be close to their family and friends. Her beloved husband of 65 years Albert D. Longone died in 2007. Natalie is survived by her devoted children; a son David Longone and his wife Irene of West Boylston, MA. a daughter Alberta Messer and her husband William of Wayne, ME. four grandsons; William Messer and his wife Allyson of Buxton, ME. Albert Messer and his wife Jennifer of Windham, NH., Nicholas Longone of Bronx N.Y. and Matthew Longone of West Boylston, MA. and a granddaughter Natalie (Messer) Roy and her husband Chad of Madisonville, LA. She also leaves proudly, her great grandchildren, Chase Messer, Marshall, Abigail, and Domenic Roy, and Ava and Olivia Messer. Natalie is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Stanzione of Johnston RI., Domenica Bisceglia, and N. Betty Castellani both of Worcester. She is also survived by two sister-in-laws, Clara Longone and Josephine Longone both of Worcester, MA. She was predeceased by a sister Mary Brown of Bristol, R.I. She also leaves behind a large extended family and friends. Natalie was born in Worcester daughter of the late Orazio and Rose (Troiano) Ciampaglia. She was a stitcher for the former Capital Shoe Company in Worcester, MA before she retired. Natalie was a founding member of St. Christopher s Church, and belonged to it's retiree's club. Natalie was also a member of the Golden Years Club of Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel-St Ann Church, the Son's Of Italy Lodge # 168, the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW of West Boylston, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans auxiliary chapter #4, and the Guild of Our Lady of the Summit. She was an active volunteer for many years for the Cub Scout and Girl Scouts of West Boylston MA. Her family would like to thank the staff at Whittier Rehabilitation Hospital and her extended family at Southgate of Shrewsbury for all their kindness. Natalie had a special zest for life and made friends no matter were she went. She had an innate gift of empowering those around her and was well respected and loved by all who knew her. She loved being with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family and will be missed by all. Natalie's funeral will be held Friday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in Saint Christopher Church 950 West Boylston St. Calling hours in the funeral home are 4-7PM on Thursday. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Lung Association 460 Tottem Pond Rd Suite 400, Waltham, Ma. 02451. }
