Michael J. DeNitti, 83, of West Boylston, passed away Sunday May 18th 2008 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence surrounded by his family. Michael was born on July 28, 1924, a son of John and Augusta (Roncone) DeNitti, He graduated from Commerce High school and joined the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. Michael was assigned as a Tail Gunner for a B-17 Bomber. What is normally a goal of flying 25 combat missions and being sent home, Michael chose to fly 35 combat missions over Germany. He returned home to work as Production Manager for Harrington Richardson Arms in Worcester and Gardner over 35 years before retiring. Michael is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Phyllis J. (Lindquist) DeNitti; His cherished daughter, Cheryl A. Mandella and her husband Richard of Shrewsbury; four sisters, Rachel Bromage of Worcester, Teresa Charamella and her husband John in Oregon, Palma Rabidou and her husband Harry in Arizona and Joanne Bosch and her husband Jack of Westboro; a brother, Rudolph DeNitti in Worcester; two adored grandchildren, Chad and Heather Mandella; many nieces, nephews and friends. Michael was a member of St Christopher Church, the VFW Post 6907 in West Boylston, and the Harold N. Keith Post 204, American Legion. Michael was an avid golfer and member of the Twin Springs Golf Course in Bolton. Michael's funeral with Military Honors will be held Thursday, May, 22nd from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Christopher Church, 950 West Boylston St. Burial will be in Mt Vernon Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 21st in the funeral home.
