Mary L. (Mariani) Wernholm, 82, of Holden, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2007 in Saint Vincent Hospital. Her husband of 54 years, Ralph Wernholm, passed away in 2006. Mrs. Wernholm was born on July 13, 1925, in Worcester, a daughter of the late George and Domenica (Bononi) Mariani and lived in Holden since 1956. She leaves her son, Robert Wernholm and his wife Susan of Holden; two daughters, Deborah Duffy of Holden and Karen Wernholm of Newburyport; four grandchildren, Eric and Hannah Duffy, John and Zachary Wernholm, all of Holden; a step grandson, Sean Duffy and a step great-grandson, Owen Duffy of Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Hugo, Eugene, Joseph and Bruno Mariani, along with a sister Albina MacLean. Mary graduated from Commerce High School and Becker Junior College. She worked many years as an Accounting Secretary in the Superintendent's Office of the Wachusett Regional School District, retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Mary's Church in Jefferson. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, cooking, the Red Sox, and especially spending time with her family. Mary's funeral will be held Tuesday, November 20th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton Street, Jefferson. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Worcester. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 20th prior to the funeral.
