Mary A. (Papagni) Holley, 89, of 21 Liscomb Street in Worcester, died Friday, May 19, 2008, surrounded by her loving family. Her beloved husband of 54 year, Robert E. Holley died May 3, 1997. She was also predeceased by a brother, John Papagni and two sisters, Lucretia Poirier and Lucy Bria, all of Worcester, MA. Mary is survived by her son, William R. Holley and his wife J. Karen "Kerry" of Shrewsbury, her daughters Patricia A. wife of David Halvorsen, Worcester; and Etta Marie, wife of Kevin McCarthy, Spencer. She leaves seven grandsons Jason Holley and wife Michelle and Jared Holley and wife Serena of San Jose, CA; Paul Halvorsen and wife Karen of So. Portland, ME; Robert Halvorsen and wife Deirdre of Rutland; Michael Halvorsen and wife Margaret of Spencer, Stephen Halvorsen and wife Katy of Hawkins Heights, TX; Matthew McCarthy and wife Melina of Spencer; and a grand daughter Timalyn M. wife of Michael Rassias of Littleton, MA. Nanny also leaves her 20 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a brother Peter Papagni of Worcester; two sisters, Josephine wife of George O'Mara of Wildwood, FL; and Antoinette wife of John Montonari of Shrewsbury as well as a sister-in-law, Anna Papagni of Worcester. Mary was the daughter of Antonio and Angelina (DiPilato) Papagni and lived her life in Worcester, MA. She worked as a bakery clerk at Scano's Bakery on Front St. in Worcester, before retiring in 1968. She loved to sew, crochet and cook but most of all "Nanny" loved to be with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by all. Calling hours will be held Monday, May 19, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her funeral will be held Tuesday, May 20, from the funeral home, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel- Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Saint John's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
