Kenneth F. Smith, 63, of Prudential Road in Worcester, passed away Friday, April 11, 2008, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Ken is survived by his high school sweetheart, with whom he recently celebrated forty years of marriage, Carole D. (Ramsdell) Smith; a son, Kevin T. Smith and his wife Nancy L. Smith; a daughter, Carolyn A. Jennette and her husband David Jennette all of Worcester; his grandchildren, Andrew Wykes, Anthony Smith, and Emily Smith, who were the lights of his life; a sister in law, Kathryn Smith of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, wife of his deceased brother, Frederick Smith; a brother in law, Frederick Shays of Spencer, husband of his deceased sister, Beverly Shays; a brother in law, Leonard Ramsdell and his wife Nancy, and their daughter, Krystyanna all of Millbury; and his uncle Joseph Chioda and his wife Marylou of Douglas, along with many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ken was born in Worcester, the son of Albert and Mary (Chioda) Smith and has lived in Worcester all his life. He was a graduate of Worcester Boys Trade and Worcester Industrial Technical Institute. Mr. Smith worked as an engineer for many years, most recently with Babcock Power of Worcester, and previously for G.H.M. Industries of Charlton. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church. He has previously been a coach with Tris Speaker Little League, and was Past President of The Worcester Swim Club. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed "the wonder of it all". The funeral for Ken will be held Monday, April 14, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel-Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Saint John's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 13, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
