Julia A. (LaCanfora) Marchese, 88, passed away, Saturday, May 17, 2008, in the Christopher House - Rehabilitation Unit, surrounded by her family. Her husband, Salvatore Marchese, died in 1979. She leaves her three daughters, Mary Grace Martone and her husband Ernest, Linda Ragaini and her husband Michael and Dolores Pezzella and her husband Robert all from Worcester; two brothers, Sam LaCanfora of Shrewsbury and Peter LaCanfora of Naples, Florida; two sisters, Francis DeProspo and Josephine Ventresca both of Worcester; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Gloria DiGiorno and Anna Caporelli. Julia was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Lamonica) LaCanfora and has lived here all her life. She worked as a waitress for the former Putnam Thurston and as an inspector for Sprague Electric Company. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Saint Ann Church and a former member of Beato Angelo d'Arci. She enjoyed cooking and was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed the simplicity of caring for and being with her family Julia's funeral will be held Wednesday, May 21st from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Saint Ann Church, 24 Mulberry Street. Calling hours will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 20th in the funeral home.
