Joyce M. (Nelson) Robbins, 79, passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 13, 2007 at home surrounded by her devoted family. Her husband of 40 years Alfred F. Robbins, passed away in March of 1988. Joyce is survived by her two daughters, Kathleen D. Robbins of Worcester and Brenda J. Rice and her husband Michael of Tallahassee, Florida, a treasured grandson, Kristopher M. Rice of Tallahassee, Florida; one brother Frank Wilmont Nelson Jr. of Brookfield and many nieces and nephews. A daughter Lisa Louise Robbins, a brother Herbert L. Nelson and two sisters Natalie Weeks and Shirley P. Clark predeceased her. Joyce was born in Worcester, a daughter of Frank Wilmont Nelson Sr. and Emma (Dyer) Nelson. She was a graduate of Classical High School and has lived here all of her life. Joyce worked for over forty years as an administrator assistant for the Department of Social Services before retiring. She was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Kristopher for whom she adored dearly. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 18th at 11:00 a.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m prior to the funeral.
