Joseph J. D'Andrea, 79, of Worcester died peacefully Wednesday December 5, 2007 at home surrounded by his family. His wife Barbara (Sweeney) D'Andrea died in 1993. Joseph is survived by his loving family; a daughter, Cheryl A. D'Andrea of Worcester, three son's Joseph J. D'Andrea and his wife Julie of Worcester, Jay M. D'Andrea of Missouri, and James M. D'Andrea of Worcester. A brother Anthony D'Andrea of Florida, three sisters, Lucy Frongillo of Florida, Mary LaPlante and Gloria D'Andrea both of Worcester.Five grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and his caregiver Gerry Lovejoy. Joseph was born in Worcester son of the late Raphael and Maria (Columbo) D'Andrea and has lived here all his life. He was predeceased by a sister Maria Connor. Joseph attended Worcester Boys Trade School, and served in the U. S. Navy on the U.S.S. Missouri during WW11. Joseph worked for the Norton Company for 37 years, and also worked at the Worcester Telegram and Gazette before retiring. He was a long time member of St. Andrew The Apostle Church, and it's men's club where he served as the President of the club for several years. Joseph was also a member of the Alhambra Council Knights Of Columbus, and the Norton Company Retiree's Association. He was a former member of the East Side Improvement Club, and worked at the Seven Hill's Foundation Bingo games for many years.He loved to play cards and enjoyed bowling He will be missed by his family and friends. Joseph's funeral will be held Friday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Andrew the Apostle Church 5 Spaulding St.Calling hours in the funeral home are 5-8PM on Thursday (tonight.)
