Joseph J. Trotto, 87 of Worcester, passed away peacefully, Sunday, April 6th 2008 in the Memorial Hospital after an illness. Joseph's wife, Jeannette (Gratton) Trotto passed away last September 7th; He is survived by his two brothers, Rocco and Michael Trotto; two sisters, Marion Sokolowski and Nicolina Mastromatteo all of Shrewsbury; his stepchildren, Micheline Brisson and her husband Yvon of Worcester, Helene Doucette and her husband Robert of Charlton, Louis G. Quidoz and his wife Brenda of Fitchburg and Jacques Quidoz and his wife Maggie of Ottawa, Canada; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren; his care giver Elizabeth Amamoo; his former wife Maria Trotto; and many nieces and nephews. A son Louis Trotto and a daughter Ann Marie Trotto as well as four brothers, Louis, Frank, Anthony and Matteo Trotto and two sisters, Mary SantaMaria and Frances Ahern all predeceased him. He was born in Worcester. His parents were the late John and Antoinette (DiPasquale) Trotto. Joseph was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving four years in Italy. Joseph worked over 65 years for the family business, Worcester Sand & Gravel Company, retiring as Vice President at the age of 85. He was a member of Christ the King Church and The Worcester Area Contractors Association. He loved to dance and enjoyed NASCAR racing. At onetime Joe sponsored a race car #69 in the NASCAR circuit with such drivers as Fats Caruso, Pete Hamilton and Ron Bouchard. Joe's funeral will be held Thursday, April 10th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a mass at 10:00 am in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant St. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family Wednesday, April 9th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
