Joseph F. Ginese, 87, of Worcester, formerly of Orient St. passed away peacefully, Monday, January 21, 2008 in his home surrounded by his loving family. Joe was born March 4, 1920, in Worcester, the son of Natale and Grazia (Ritacco) Ginese. He was a World War II, U.S. Army Veteran and has lived in Worcester all his life. Joe is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Elizabeth (Covotta) Ginese; Two daughters, Susan Reynolds and her husband Robert of Paxton, and Maureen Mitchell of Worcester; Seven grandchildren, Michael Reardon and his girlfriend Kate, Katherine Reynolds, Lynn Raffa and her husband Steve, Tara Maguire and her husband Scott, Alaina Bisceglia, Jeff and Robert Mitchell. Six great grandchildren, Gianna, Joey, Emily, Brooke, Sam and Calib; a brother in law Anthony Covotta; many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends, among them Pat Ginese and Paul Farrell. Two brothers and four sisters pre deceased him. Mr. Ginese worked for the City of Worcester, Department of Public Works many years before retiring in 1982. He was a member of Pope John XXIII, Knights of Columbus. Joe enjoyed playing Keno with his son in law, Robert and grandson Michael; playing cards on Tuesday nights with his buddies; lunches with his niece Teresa Bellino and visits with his grandchildren. The family wishes to thank all of his caregivers Dawn, Catherine, Linda, Tony, Paul, Vicky and Jerry. All the Nurse's from Umass Memorial Health Care and a special thank you to the Worcester Firefighters. Joe's funeral will be held Saturday, January 26h from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, January 25th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Members of the Pope John Council Knights of Columbus will meet at 7 p.m. in the funeral home to contact their ritual.
