James W. Hardwick, Jr., 65 of Worcester passed away Sunday, February 3rd in Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. James is survived by his mother, Mary E. (Williams) Johnson of Oxford; a daughter, Veronica Parrott in Ohio; one brother, Alfred Johnson of Worcester; three sisters; Mary Ann Johnson of Worcester, Ernestine Sanders and Patricia H. Jones both in Georgia; a step brother, Leon; three grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; He was born in Augusta, Georgia, his father was the late James W. Hardwick, Sr., and has lived in the Worcester area since 1962. James worked many years as a Grinder for Wyman-Gordon Company in Grafton before retiring in 2000. He previously worked as a construction bricklayer, and also for Norton Company. James was a member of Second Baptist Church, The United Steelworkers of America Union and the Quinsigamond Lodge of Elks. A funeral service will be held Friday, February 8th at 11:00 a.m. in Second Baptist Church, Hammond St. Worcester. A period of calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday prior to the service in the church. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Second Baptist Church, 14 Hammond St. Worcester, MA .
