Helen G. (Mastorakis) Lazarides, 91, of Stuart, Florida, formerly of Worcester, entered into eternal rest with her Lord, Thursday, February 21st, 2008, in Stuart, Florida. Helen's husband, George A. Lazarides, passed away in 1960. She is survived by her daughter Mary Lazarides; sister Mary Fountas of Bridgeport, CT; brother Chris Masters of Bethel, VT; niece Priscilla Stratton of Fitchburg; nephew Chris Mastorakis of Methuen; and many other nieces and nephews. Helen was born in Lawrence, MA, on March 14th, 1916, the fifth daughter of Christos and Sylvia (Lavada) Mastorakis. Helen grew up in Methuen, MA, lived in Brooklyn, NY, and then 28 years on Chandler St in Worcester before moving to Stuart, Florida, in 1987. Helen worked with her husband at his wholesale food service in Brooklyn, NY. A candy dipper by trade, she worked at the former Drakes' Candies in Webster Square and in her latter years at Prifti's Candies before retiring to Florida. After experiencing a spiritual rebirth, Helen attended the Assemblies of God in Leominster and Worcester, Faith Alive Ministrie s in Millbury, and New Creation Family Church in Worcester. Helen's life was a shining example of God's love, joy, giving, and grace. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28th, at 11:00 a.m. in the First Assembly of God Church, 30 Tyler-Prentice Rd., Worcester. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. A period of calling hours will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, prior to the funeral in the church. The family requests that flowers be omitted and donations be made in her memory to the children of New Missions in Haiti, P. O. Box 2727, Orlando, FL 32802.
