Frances T. Kurtz

Frances T. (Garofoli) Kurtz, 87, passed away January 21, 2008 in Elderwood Health Care at Crestwood, Niagara Falls, NY. Her husband, Frederick K. Kurts died in Febuary of 1990. She leaves her two sons, Ron Kurtz and his wife Susan of Whitby, Ontario and Paul F. Kurtz of Boston; her daughter Cynthia J. Pontes and her husband Gilson of Sao Paulo, Brazil; two brothers John Garofoli of Shrewsbury and Morris Garolfoli in Worcester, four sisters, Lucy Moynihan of Shrewsbury, Isabel Lysik of Paxton, Lois LeHair and Teresa Picard; five grandchildren, Jasmine & Sasha Kurtz, Nicole, Erika and Andre Pontes and Jason Krochalis. She is predeceased by two sisters Martha Matress and Anne Davis. Born in Worcester, she was the daughter of Donato and Maria (Consiglio) Garofoli and has lived in Manchester, CT, for most of her life, moving recently to Niagara Falls, NY in 2005. Frances worked many years as an inspector for Electro-Methods, Inc., in South Windsor, CT. She was an avid golfer and bowler. Frances love gardening and enjoyed baking fancy Italian entrées and desserts. Frances will be sadly missed by all. Frances's funeral will be Sunday, January 27th at 12 noon in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Calling hours are from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. prior to her funeral. Burial will take place at a later date in Manchester, CT. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 128 Providence St., Worcester, MA 01604.
