Emilia (Porcelli) Garofoli, 79, of Worcester, devoted mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Friday, March 7th 2008, in the University of Massachusetts Hospital. Emilia's husband Vincent Garofoli passed away in 1970. She is survived by her devoted children, John Garofoli and his wife Denise,of Worcester, Francis Garofoli and his wife Beverly of Sterling, Vincent Garofoli and his wife Claudia, and Jean (Garofoli) Lemenager all of Worcester; a cherished brother and sister, Peter Porcelli of Worcester and Vincenza Pasquale of Bisceglia, Italy; seven adored grandchildren, Jonelle, Wendy, Samuel, Matthew, Alyssa, Daniel, and Corey; nieces and nephews. A brother Sergio Porcelli and a sister Antonia Todisco pre deceased her. Emilia was born in Bisceglia, Province of Bari Italy, a daughter of Francesco and Antonia (Tortora) Porcelli; She came to this country at the age of 19, and has lived here ever since. Emilia was an exquisite seamstress and tailor working all her life for Grants, Filenes and many years for the Lujon's Men's Shop of Worcester until retirement. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish, its Golden Years organization, Our Lady of Sorrows and the Maria S.S. Addoloratta Association and the Belmont Towers Association. A devoted mother to her family, she cherished the times she had with her children, grandchildren, family and devoted friends. The funeral will be held Tuesday, March 11th from The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL; 370 Plantation St with a mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, 24 Mulberry St. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visit with the family Monday, March 10th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities, 10 Hammond St. Worcester.
