Ellis Kublic, 85, passed away peacefully in St. Vincent hospital on Saturday December 8th surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. He was born in 1922 in Shamokin Pa, one of the 11 children of William and Gertrude (Woolridge) Kublic. Growing up during the depression and being from a large family, his job resume was diverse, ranging from coal miner and construction worker, assembly-line worker at General Motors and Westinghouse to Jet Mechanic and small plane pilot at Lockheed Aircraft to his final job at Wyman Gordon's from which he retired in 1987. Being part of what has been dubbed the "greatest generation", he was a serviceman in the US Army Air Corps during WWll, serving in France, Africa and Italy as a tailgunner. As the sole survivor of his squadron he was "4 TIMES DECORATED", including the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with 7 bronze stars. He moved to Massachusetts in 1954, living in both Leicester and Worcester. He loved Hampton Beach, Lake George and playing cards. He is survived by many nieces and nephews scattered throughout the United States and Europe. He will be especially missed by those to whom he was closest all these years in Massachusetts; his niece Karen Gentile and her husband Larry, his great-niece Lisa (Gentile) Jerry and her husband Richard, his great-nephew Greg Gentile and his great-grand niece Brittne Gentile whom he adored. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Mary Kublic, and close friends Lorraine Cotner and her family and Jimmy and Noreen Leary and their family. He was pre-deceased by five brothers, William, Rudolph, Francis, Charles and Chester and five sisters, Edna, Grace, Florence, Blanche and Beatrice. According to his wishes, funeral services and burial will be private, along side his niece Sheila Kublic who passed away in 1962, but against all his wishes a memorial dinner and celebration of his life will be held later this month. Our family wishes to thank the wonderful staff in the ICU and PCU at St. Vincent's for their wonderful care and concern in his final days. Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel 370 Plantation St assisted the family with arrangements.
