Edward "Ed" Bonnici, 60, of Shrewsbury passed away Monday, December 17th in his home after being stricken ill. Edward is survived by the family he loves so much; His devoted wife of 11 years, Virginia A. (McElroy) Bonnici; his children, Emily Joy Bonnici and Joshua Joachim Bonnici both at home; Julie Bonnici-Roberts of Worcester, Amy Bonnici-Badah of Providence R.I., and Todd Bonnici of San Diego, Calif. and his close friends. Edward was born in Worcester, one of 4 children born to Sebastian and Rita (Ferro) Bonnici. He graduated from Assumption Prep and attended Assumption College. He then earned his Practical Nursing degree from Worcester Fanning Trade School. Edward worked as a LPN for various nursing and medical facilities before retiring. He was a devoted father who loved being a Dad, caring for and spending time with his children. He was active in his children's school activities. He was a member of St. Anne's Church. Edward's funeral will be held Thursday, December 20th from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St Worcester with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd. Burial will be at the convenience of e family. Friends are invited to visit with his family from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 19th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions ma be made to the Bonnici Children Educational Fund, care of the Grafton Suburban Credit Union, 898 Grafton Street Worcester 01604.
