Donald B. "Flakey" Gullbrand, Jr. a retired Worcester Policeman passed away Sunday, March 15th in his home surrounded by his family. Donald is survived by his devoted wife and partner of 30 years, Palma, "Pam" (Alfego) Gullbrand; His two beloved daughters, Lynn R. Wilkinson and her husband Thomas of Hubbardston, Cynthia J. Regan and her husband James of Woonsocket, R.I.; Five cherished grandchildren, Taylor, Tom, Julie, Kaitlyn and Sarah. Many nieces, nephews and extended family. Donald was born in Worcester, son of Donald B. Gullbrand, Sr., and Hilda P. (Pearson) Gullbrand. He graduated from Commerce High school, served in the U.S.Navy during the Korean War and has lived in Worcester all his life. Donald was a Bus Driver and Union Steward for the Worcester Regional Transit Authority for the 17 years. He previously worked 18 years as a Patrolman for the Worcester Police Department before retiring in 1983. Donald was a member and shop steward for the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 22. A member of the Vernon Hill Post #435, American Legion, the International Brotherhood of Police Officers Union and the Worcester Police Credit Union. Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family, Wednesday, March 19th in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. A Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 20th at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
