Daniel D. Costello, 84, of Winston Road in Worcester, passed away, Friday, March 28, 2008, in Memorial Hospital, with his family at his side. His wife of twenty-nine years, Barbara (Banks) Costello, passed away in 1999. Daniel is survived by a son, Daniel Costello, Jr. and his wife Carol of Dudley; a daughter, Beth Bisceglia and her husband Joseph of Worcester; a step-son, Glenn Dolan of Worcester; two step-daughters, Dawn Battista and her husband Daniel of Phoenix, Arizona, and Barbara DolanGolato and her husband Louis of Boylston; three sisters, Rose Leclaire of Whittier, California, Florence Stockwell of Deltona, Florida, and Sylvia Dobbs of Moorestown, New Jersey; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was born in Worcester, son of the late Nicholas and Congetta Costello. He served in the United States Army, during World War II, and was awarded a Purple Heart, for injuries in the line of duty. Mr. Costello was a sales representative for Western Candy and Tobacco for many years, before he retired. Upon his retirement he moved to West Yarmouth on Cape Cod, where he lived for many years, before returning to Worcester. The funeral for Daniel will be held Wednesday, April 2, from MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of The Rosary Church, 23 Fales Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
