Beatrice Louise (Congdon) Ringels, 84, of Worcester passed away Friday, April 4th 2008, at Radius Healthcare, after a long illness. She was the daughter of Everlin B. (Waller) Cook and Andrew G. Congdon. Her mother's family has resided in Worcester since the late1800s. She is survived by three grandchildren: Rodney Ringels, Kenny and Shane Watson; four nieces and nephews: Andrew B. Cook of Sudbury, and Douglas D. Cook, Jr., Michelle Cook, and Stephanie Perkins, all of Worcester; plus three grand-nieces and one grand-nephew. Her brother, Douglas D. Cook, Sr., sister Constance Brown, and son Ricard G Ringels pre-deceased her. Beatrice was born and grew up in the former Laurel Clayton neighborhood of Worcester. She graduated from Commerce High School and married the late Harold R. Ringels of Haverhill. They lived for some years in New York City. After her husband's death, she returned to Worcester with her son and took a job as a medical secretary in the orthopedic department of St. Vincent Hospital. She worked at St. Vincent's for more than 20 years before retiring. She was a member of Belmont Street A.M.E. Zion church, the Women's Over Seas Missionary Society and the St Vincent Retiree's Association. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 at 12:00 noon in the Emanuel Baptist Church, 717 Main St. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. Calling hours are 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon prior to the service Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to The Belmont Street A.M.E. Zion Church.
