Assunta "Susy" (Galli) Butler, 86, formerly of Shrewsbury St. died peacefully Friday May 2, 2008 in St Vincent Hospital. She is survived by two son's Allan P. Butler of California, and Anthony E. Butler and his wife Maureen of Oxford, four grandchildren, Anthony, Victoria, Quinn, Kursten, and several great grandchildren, six sisters, Matilda, Meg, Gloria, Ida, Alice, and Dora, and two brothers Theo and Hugo. And many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her siblings; Domenic, John, Gracie, Viola, and Victor, and a son Frederick Butler Jr. Assunta was born in Worcester daughter of Paul and Anna (Antinarella) Galli and lived here all her life. "Susy" worked in the dietary department at the UMASS Memorial Medical Center for many years before she retired. Many years ago she was the owner of a Jewelry store on Shrewsbury St. She was a member of Our Lady Of Mt Carmel- St Ann Church. She enjoyed painting, cooking, gardening, playing cards and making puzzles.But most of all she enjoyed being with her family. She will be missed dearly by her family and friends. Assunta's funeral will be held Monday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME AND CHAPEL 370 Plantation St with a Mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of Mt Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St. A calling hour will be held from 9AM to 10:30AM in the funeral home Monday morning only.Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
