Alfred C. Tortora, 89, of Myrtle Beach, S.C. formerly of Worcester, passed away peacefully, Monday, March 3rd, 2008 in his home surrounded by his devoted family. His wife Mary (Ferro) Tortora died in 1962. Alfred is survived by his loving children; a son Robert Tortora of California, two daughters, Donna Weiskircher, and Dr. Carol Martin and her husband Dr. Patrick Martin, and a grandson Noah Martin all of Myrtle Beach. S.C.Alfred is also survived by a sister Rita Federico, and many nephews and nieces. A brother Edward Tortora predeceased him. Alfred was born in Worcester son of the late Michele and Antoinette (Sbrogna) Tortora and lived in Worcester most of his life before moving to Myrtle Beach about 10 years ago. Al worked for the Olson Manufacturing Company fro 40 years before he retired. During his years at Olson's he was an officer of the Credit Union and president of their Bowling League. He was a long time member of the Pope John XX111 Council Knights Of Columbus.And was a member of Our Lady Of Mt Carmel-St Ann Church. Alfred was an avid Bowler, and loved to travel especially with his family. He will be missed by his family and friends. Alfred's funeral will be held Saturday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM In Our Lady Of Mt Carmel-St Ann Church 24 Mulberry St.Calling hours in the funeral home are from 4-8PM on Friday. Burial will be in St Johns Cemetery.
