Accurzio "Cuzo" Sclafani

July 8, 1948 — April 26, 2019

Accurzio R. “Cuzo” Sclafani, 70, of Worcester, passed away in the The Rose Monahan Hospice House on Friday, April 26, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.

Cuzo leaves his beloved wife of thirty-nine years, Loretta J. (Martone) Sclafani; a son, Jason Paul Aboody of Huntersville, NC; a daughter, Nicole H. Aboody Milbier of Westerly, RI; the apple of his eye, his cherished granddaughter, Arabella Rose Milbier; a brother, Stephen Sclafani; two sisters, Iris Sclafani Rose and her husband Arthur, and Lisa Ann Sclafani, all of Worcester; and his large extended family of Worcester.  He was born in the “North End” of Boston, son of the late, Frank N. and Olga (Garadozzi) Sclafani.  He graduated from Michelangelo High School in Boston; returning to school after his marriage to received an Associates Degree in Business Management.

Cuzo served his nation proudly in the United States Army, during the Vietnam Era. 
Earning a Bronze Star, and numerous other medals during his service.  Following his return to the United States, he began a long career as a Letter Carrier with the United States Post Office in  the Back Bay Post Office in Boston, before retiring around 2012.

Mr. Sclafani was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Parish, he was a talented carpenter and gardener.  He could often be found “fixing” things around the house; one of the many ways he showed his love of his family.

He and Loretta enjoyed many summers at Old Orchard Beach with family and friends.

Calling Hours will be on Wednesday morning, May 1, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester.  A procession will depart the funeral home at 11:10 a.m. for an 11:30 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Loreto Church, 33 Massasoit Road, Worcester.  Interment with Military Honors will follow at Saint John’s Cemetery in Worcester.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Way, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Rose Monahan Hospice Residence, 10 Judith Road, Worcester, MA 01602.
