A resident of Worcester, he is survived by his parents, Pedora Zachary of Worcester and Philip Zachary of Tiverton, RI; and siblings Evan Sexton of Northboro, MA, Blaire Zachary of San Francisco, CA and Cathryn Zachary of Tiverton, RI. He is the grandson of Lorraine (Dufault) Johnston and the late David Johnston of Worcester and the late Frank D. Zachary and Catherine (Jones) Zachary of Middletown, CT. Adam was preceded in death by late Aunt Karen Johnson of Worcester and is survived by her husband Phillip Johnson; his Uncle David Zachary and Vicki Zachary of Hickory, NC; Uncle David Johnston and Anita Johnston of Gorham, ME; Aunt Sally Cipolla and Joe Cipolla of Richmond, VA; Uncle Jamie Johnston and Marcie Johnston of Worcester, MA and Aunt Joan O’Neil and Jim O’Neil of Holden, MA.
A voracious reader and avid video gamer, Adam graduated from the acclaimed Thomas Jefferson Governor’s School in Springfield, VA, where he was a National Merit Scholar. He earned a presidential scholarship to Tulane University in New Orleans, LA and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 2003. Upon graduation, Adam followed his dream of working in the video game industry to San Francisco, where he advanced to the position of Product Production Manager at Ubisoft Entertainment. Adam fell in love with the City by the Bay and became a rabid fan of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers.
A kind and gentle soul, Adam especially loved time with his family, and his sense of humor could bring a room to tears. Adam was also passionate about music—especially alternative rock from the late 90’s—and accompanied his father to many a concert while in high school and college. He was the proud owner of a one-of-a-kind Paul Reed Smith custom guitar and enjoyed playing.
After a private ceremony at Mercadante Funeral Home and Chapel, 370 Plantation St. in Worcester, Adam’s remains will be interred in the Zachary family plot at Pine Grove Cemetery in Middletown, CT.
