Alan J. Alcorn, 72, of Worcester, passed away with his devoted wife Bernice gathered at his bedside Sunday, June 12th, 2022, after an extended period of declining health.
Alan was born in Worcester, son of the late Christine (Fortier) Alcorn who passed away in May of 2021, and Samuel Alcorn. He graduated from Doherty High school and New England School of Accounting. Alan worked over his life for several companies in the Aerospace industry as a machinist, General Tire Corporation in Quality control and then for St Gobain before retiring. Early in his life Alan owned and operated an Autobody Shop in Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife and soulmate, of 25 years, Bernice A. (Fenner) Alcorn; a brother, James Alcorn in Worcester and sister, Debbie Knox, in Connecticut; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Alan’s best friend and pet black Labrador, predeceased him.
Alan was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed collecting Beer cans. He was a member and former president of the Beer Can collectors of America, notably publishing a book called the “Beer Tray Guy.”
Memorial graveside services will be held, Tuesday, June 21st at 12 noon in section Heritage II, Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions in his name can be made to the Guiding eyes for the blind, 611 Granite Springs Road, Yorktown Heights, NY 10598, The MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
