Alex J Panarelli

July 9, 1951 — July 30, 2022

Alex J. Panarelli, 71, of Worcester, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2022, at UMass Hospital in Worcester, with his loving wife, Joanne at his bedside.

Alex is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Joanne L. (Kamyk) Panarelli; two brothers, Frank Panarelli and his wife Kim, and Carlo Panarelli and his wife Donna; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Panarelli, all of Shrewsbury; his favorite uncle, Joseph “Junie” Panarelli; and his brother-in-law, Joseph Kamyk, both of Worcester; his beloved cat, Cosmo; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  He was pre-deceased by his brother, Joseph Panarelli. Alex was born in Worcester, son of the late, Cosmo “Pinky” and Grace (DiLeo) Panarelli.

He graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1970, where he excelled as an athlete and was Quarterback of the football team and was a pitcher for the baseball team.

Alex met Joanne in 1973, and got married in 1975 in Las Vegas, where they remained for several years. Alex worked as a twenty-one dealer at the Dunes Hotel, before moving to Florida in 1980.  They lived in Arcadia, Florida, where he owned and operated several businesses with his younger brother, Carlo, who was also his best friend.  They always had each other’s back.

Alex was a man with a great personality, he lived his life unabashedly and on his own terms; making friends wherever he went.  He had a great sense of humor, a quick wit, and a big heart.  He loved horse racing, golfing, and watching sporting events.  He was a member of the Men’s Biscegliese Society and served as vice president, the Eastside Improvement Club, and The ITAM Club, to name a few.  He was a member of Our Lady of Loreto Church.

Along with his brothers, he opened Quinsigamond Athletic Club in Shrewsbury; and with his entrepreneurial knowledge and spirit, he owned several businesses in the Worcester area including Bella La Casa Modular Home Builders.

A special thank you to his nephew, Joey who was a great help to Alex over the last year.

There are no services planned at this time.  A Celebration of His Life will be held at a later date, that will be announced.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to Worcester Animal Rescue League, 139 Holden Street, Worcester, MA 01606.
