Amarias Silva Correa, 71 of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Amarias was born on March 5, 1949 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to the late Carmelo Silva Carrasquillo and Luisa Correa Velez. She worked for the Worcester Public School Department first as a teacher’s aide in the 1980s and retired as a secretary at Elm Park Elementary School.
Amarias leaves behind her husband Ismael Matos; her three children, Lisbeth Ortiz and her partner Jose Cruz, Alexis Martinez and Sylvia Rivera; her brother, David Silva; her sister, Miriam Davila; seven stepchildren; four grandchildren, Ivan Bermudez and his wife Ketcy, Amaris Bermudez and her husband John Esteras, Leilany Rivera and Steven Rivera; three great grandchildren, Priscila Esteras, Zahraliz Esteras and Jazmarie Brooks; many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for Amarias will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from 6-8 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester. Burial will be held privately at Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Masks and social distancing are mandatory at the services.
