Amelia C. “Millie” Simone, 97, of Worcester, passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Shrewsbury Nursing Home.
Millie, as she was mostly known, was born in Worcester, daughter of Italian immigrants, Bartolomeo and Angelina (Baldino) Simone, and spent most of her life living in the Shrewsbury Street neighborhood.
Millie is survived by a brother, Domenic “Babe” Simone; many nieces and nephews, including Linda Doherty her primary caregiver, Cathy and Elaine Simone. She was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters, John “Jack” Simone, Maurice “Mike” Simone, Thomas Simone, Mary Bergantine, Marie Oliveri, and Lucy Zarette.
She worked for many years at the former Washburn-Garfield Company until they closed. She then went to work in the transport department at UMass Medical Center, before retiring. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church and two church organizations, Our Lady of Sorrows group and the Golden Years Club.
Visitation will be on Thursday, October 28, from 11 a.m. until her Funeral Service begins at 12 Noon in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
