André R. Gingras, 67, of Brimfield/Warren, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 1, 2020, at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield.
André is survived by his adoring wife, who has been his greatest supporter for over fifty years, Margaret A. (Panzera) Gingras; their son, André R. Gingras, Jr. and his wife Amanda and their son, the apple of pépèr’s eye, Luc R. Gingras, of Wales; his brother and life-long best friend, Leo G. Gingras and his wife Elaine of Rutland; his father in law, Sal Panzera of Worcester; many nieces, who were all special to him. André was born in Worcester, son of the late Raymond and Aurelie (Marcotte) Gingras. He graduated from Holy Name High School and later attended Worcester Trade School. Having grown up in Worcester, he moved his family to Oxford where they lived for over twenty years before realizing his dream of owning a home with a large parcel of land, moving to Brimfield/Warren about ten years ago.
André worked as an electrical contractor for over thirty years, operating Gingras Electric, which he recently turned over day to day operations and ownership to his son and namesake. Before venturing out on his own, André worked for General Motors in Framingham and Wright-Line in Worcester.
André was a member of the NRA and the Worcester Electrical League. He loved the outdoors and hunting on his own property. André had a great appreciation for nature and loved that he was able to heat his home with wood he and his son processed from his property
André was a man of knowledge and creativity. He had the ability to figure out any issue brought before him; whether it was welding, carpentry or his work as an electrician, he could be looked to for a solution in tough situations. In “André’s Barn” many a project was dreamt, created and brought to life.
There weren’t many things greater than his family, other than his love of being outside and enjoying the beauty of nature. His affinity for motorcycles allowed him to enjoy great scenery accompanied with power, speed, and the open road. One of his greatest trips on motorcycle was when he rode to farthest northern point of Alaska that allowed vehicle traffic. André also enjoyed many “bucket list” vacation locations with his wife. His family will tell you that he literally “lived the dream”.
André’s family like to thank Warren Police/EMS, Mary Lane Emergency Department, Med Flight Team, and Bay State Hospital ICU Doctors and Nurses, for their efforts and compassionate care and services, through this difficult time.
Memorial Calling Hours will be held on Friday, March 6, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANT FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. A continued Celebration of His Life will be on Saturday, March 7, at the funeral home beginning at 10 a.m. followed by a service honoring his life at 11 a.m.
