Andrew W Brierley

Andrew W. Brierley, 64, of Worcester, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. While his family is devastated by his unexpected and sudden passing, they take comfort in the many joys he brought to them and others as a husband, father, friend, and neighbor. 

Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, as one of five children, Andrew had a childhood filled with adventure and hard work. Andrew graduated from New Bedford High School in 1975 and went on to study business at UMass Dartmouth. He later earned his Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) from Harvard University. Andrew’s career spanned decades of work with several finance-related companies in the greater Boston area. 

Andrew loved his wife Kirsten Hede, who he married in her homeland of Denmark and with whom he settled down in Boston, MA and later in Lexington, MA. They had two children, Leif and Emma, who were his pride and joy. 

Andrew was the ultimate family man. Together with his wife and two children, Andrew enjoyed fishing, canoeing, landscaping, swimming, fixing cars, playing sports, and entertaining by a roaring fire. Andrew happily adopted the traditions of his wife’s Danish heritage and was proud to support the family’s regular trips to visit relatives in Denmark. 

Andrew is survived by his wife of 33 years, Kirsten Hede Brierley; his son, Leif Hede Brierley and daughter-in-law Rachel Woods, and his soon-to-come first grandchild; his daughter, Emma Hede Brierley; and family in Denmark and the greater New Bedford area. He was the son of the late Joseph F. and F. Gwendolyn (Dalrymple) Brierley. 

Services for Andrew will be held privately. In lieu of flowers or food, the family kindly requests that those interested consider supporting the family by making a donation toward his funeral expenses in these challenging times by contributing at this link.
