Angela "Angie" (Groccia) Catino, of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2018. Her devoted husband of 59 years, Lando “Lanny” Catino, predeceased her in 2013. Angela is survived by her daughter and primary caregiver, Pamela Catino, with whom she lived, and her daughter Cindy and her husband, Dr. Russ Krausser of Boston, two sister-in-laws, Millie Anne DeLoriea of Oxford and Jean Battelle of Worcester, many nieces, nephews, and friends. Also, two special caregivers Sonia and Maureen. Angela is predeceased by seven siblings, Frank Groccia, Mary Morrone, Rose Altimani, Nancy Scalzo, Louise Eager, Joseph Groccia, and Lena Meringolo. Angela was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Margaret (Perro) and Genaro Groccia and lived there all her life. Angela was a graduate of Commerce High School. She worked as a secretary at the Department of Navy, the Worcester Police Department, and Worcester Molded Plastics. After meeting and marrying the love of her life, Lanny, she dedicated her life to raising her family. Angela was a passionately devoted wife and mother. Her greatest joy in life was keeping a lovely home and spending time with her husband Lanny and her two daughters. She supported her children in all their endeavors and always thought of their needs and her husband’s before herself. Her wisdom guided her children throughout their lives. She cherished her many years living on Heywood Street surrounded by family. She was a wonderful cook and especially enjoyed holiday gatherings creating delicious traditional Italian dishes. Angela had special style and grace. Her beautiful smile made everyone feel warm and welcomed.  Always elegant and meticulous in her beautiful appearance, shopping was a favorite pastime. She enjoyed vacations on Cape Cod and visiting her daughter’s home on Plum Island. Her determination and will to live for so many years was remarkable. Angela’s caring and compassionate nature will be sadly missed by family and friends. Angela had great faith and watched the televised masses daily. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of Loreto parish. Angela’s funeral will be held Thursday, August 30, from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St with a Mass at 11:30 am in Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd. Burial will follow in St John’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home prior to leaving for church.
