Angela “Angie” (Totaro) Dunkerly, 62, a longtime Paxton resident, passed away surrounded by the family she loved Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Angela was Born in Vieste, Province of Foggia, Italy, the daughter of Santo and Maria Josephine (Maggiore) Totaro. Raised in Vieste, Angela moved with her family to Worcester at the age of twelve, where she attended and graduated from Worcester Girls Trade with a focus in cosmetology. She met, and in September of 1986, married in Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church, the “love of her life,” Paul M. Dunkerly. They then began a life of love, faith, and family, raising their sons. Angie worked as a cosmetologist for several salons including Jason’s, Salon124, and The Hair Market. For the last 10 years, she has been self-employed with her own salon.
Angela is survived by her husband, Paul; two sons she adored, Michael J. Dunkerly of Gloucester, Jonathan S. Dunkerly, his fiancée Alycia Allard and grand dog “Mocha” of Woodstock, CT; two brothers, Silvestro Totaro and his girlfriend Shirley Gorski of Auburn, Pasquale Totaro and his wife Barbara of Worcester; a sister, Anna MacGregor and her husband Glenn of Douglas; Many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, Angela joins in heaven her sister, Nunzia “Nancy” Stramacchia, who passed away in 2011.
Angela was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel/Our Lady of Loreto Parish. She was a homebody who loved taking care of her home and family. She loved to cook, bake, and walk. She was fond of the beaches of Cape Cod and Hampton Beach, as well as enjoying some of the winter in Florida. Holidays with family and friends were always meaningful and special.
A period of calling hours will be held Monday, June 3rd from 9 AM to 11 AM in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., followed by a procession to Our Lady of Loreto Church, 37 Massasoit Rd., where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 am. Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery, Paxton.
