Angelo R. Scola, 86, of Boylston, Ma passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home.
He leaves behind his dearest friend and wife of 56 years, Cynthia (Frink), two loving daughters, Lisa Scola and her companion Michael Kaczynski of Dudley, Ma; Pamela Marois and her husband David of Sutton, Ma; his four beloved grandchildren, Alexandra Josephine Crosby and her husband Elijah of Fairbanks, Alaska; Matthew David and Elizabeth Rose Marois, and Gianna Rose Cariglia along with nieces and a nephew.
Angelo was born March 3, 1936, in Worcester, the son of the late Dr. Joseph and Enis (Capodieci) Scola.
Angelo graduated from Worcester Academy, class of 1954, then earned a BA from Clark University. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from New England School of Law. He completed his Master’s Degree in Education from Worcester State University.
Over the years Angelo was active in the Economics Club of Worcester along with his father and uncles, past member of the Boylston Lions Club, Trustee of the Boylston Library, Greendale Men’s Retired Club of Worcester, and was on the Board of Directors for the Central MA Agency for Aging. For many years Angelo sat on the finance committee for his parish church of St. Christopher’s. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserves and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1966.
Over the course of his career he taught at Ward school, was the director of Financial Aid at Leicester Junior College, and retired from Worcester State University as Dean of Administration.
Throughout their 56 beautiful years together, Angelo and Cynthia enjoyed traveling to Italy, Hawaii, California and wintering in Naples, Florida. Their most treasured moments were spent summering at their home in Misquamicut Beach, Rhode Island. It was his special place where he enjoyed spending time with his lifelong friends and family. Angelo will be remembered for sitting in his chair under the tree having heartfelt conversations with loved ones.
Of all his accomplishments and titles, the one he most cherished was being called Dad, Papa, and friend.
The family would like to thank Angelo’s caregivers at Rose Monahan for their constant care and compassion.
Friends and family are all welcomed to attend Angelo’s calling hours on Friday, June 10th from 9-10:30 AM at the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St, Worcester. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM at St. Christopher’s Church, 950 West Boylston St, Worcester with the burial to follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Rd, Worcester, Ma 01602-3213. The Mass will be livestreamed on the funeral home website for those who are unable to attend in person.
