Ann E. St. Onge

Ann E. St. Onge, 75, of Worcester passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Memorial Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

Born on June 18, 1947 in Worcester, daughter of the late Elizabeth T. (Healey).  Ann was educated in the Worcester Public Schools, graduating from North High School, Class of 1965; and later from David Hale Fanning School of Nursing in 1971.  Ann earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Curry College.

Ann worked as a nurse at the former Doctors Hospital currently known as Adcare Hospital and Worcester State Hospital. In 1974, she graduated from the Worcester Police Academy and served as a Police Service Aid for almost 9 years.  Later graduating again from the police academy as a Worcester Police Officer.  Where she served for the next 28 years before retiring in 2012.  She also served her country in the United States Coast Guard Reserves for 5 years.

Ann was a member of the Worcester Retired Police and Fire Association, The Massachusetts Police Association, and the Worcester Police Relief Association.  In 2007, she was honored by the City of Worcester as a Woman of Distinction.  She was proud to have served the citizens of the City of Worcester for so long.  The friends and brotherhood she shared with her fellow police officers made her so proud and thankful.

Ann leaves her companion of 50 years, Joseph C. McGinn of Worcester, with whom she lived; Karen Madonna her sister friend since birth and her husband Dr. John Madonna, Jr. of Rutland, and their children, her godson, Mathew Madonna and his longtime companion Jessica Goodfield of Athol, Kara McKeon and her husband Kenneth of Rutland, and Kathryn Crocker of Rutland, Jeff Madonna and his wife Jennifer of Northborough and Iris Lyons and her husband Brendan Melican of Worcester.  She also leaves cousins, Susan Healey of Worcester, Ginny Healey and Peggy Valentine both of Las Vegas, Terry wife of Dr. Fran Ramella of Galilee, RI, Cheryl St. Onge of Dennis, MA, and Daniel Sullivan and his wife Linda and their children of Auburn, as well as many loved ones including the McGinn Family whom she was very close with and many friends especially Laura (Bogosian) Liberatore of Framingham.  She was also very close to the Madonna grandchildren, Anthony Madonna, Alexander Madonna, Carter Crocker, Camden Crocker, Adyline Crocker, Garrett McKeon, Riley McKeon, Oliver Melican, Michael Madonna, Madeline Madonna, Gianna Madonna, and Mateo Madonna.

She and Joe spent every holiday with the Madonna Family and many other happy times.

Relatives and friends are invited to a period of calling hours on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester.  Services for Ann will be held on Thursday, December 8th with a procession from the funeral home departing at 9:45 a.m. to St. John’s Church, 40 Temple St., Worcester where a Liturgy of The Word Service will be held at 10:00 a.m.  Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester.  In lieu of flowers Ann has asked that you go to your favorite “watering hole” and tell the stories she can no longer share.
