Anna (Surabian) Belculfine, 94, of Worcester, passed away on Monday, October 11, 2021, at Christopher House in Worcester, surrounded by her loving family.
Anna is survived by her loving family including, three sons, John F. Belculfine and his wife Launa of Green Valley, AZ, David L. Belculfine of Ludlow, and Paul J. Belculfini of Shrewsbury; a brother, Harold Surabian of West Lake, CA; a sister, Helen Genatossio of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren, Anthony and Maggie Belculfini, Vanessa, Michael, and Anna Belculfine; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo and by her brother, Hapet Surabian. Anna was born in Worcester, daughter of the late, Hapet and Ruth (Mamigonian) Surabian, and has lived here all her life. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1945.
Anna worked for many years at the former Jordan Marsh department store in the Worcester Center Galleria, before retiring in 1990. She worked as a secretary at Worcester State Hospital from 1946-1955, before leaving there to raise her children.
Anna was a member of The Armenian Church of Our Savior, while growing up. She loved to be with her family and enjoyed traveling, summers at Cape Cod and in Maine. She loved her flower gardens and traveling to New York City with her sister to “catch a show”. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Anna’s family would like to thank all the wonderful people at Christopher Heights in Worcester. Their care and compassion made her new home of six years a wonderful experience and great place to live. Anna was so fortunate to have made many new friends while living there.
Calling Hours for Anna will be on Thursday, October 14, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Her Funeral Service will be on Friday, October 15 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery in Worcester.
