Anthony L. Carnevale, 99, a lifelong resident of Worcester passed away peacefully with loved ones gathered at his side, Thursday, November 9, 2023. Tony is welcomed into heaven by his son, James who passed away August 10th and wife Arline who passed away in 2018.
Anthony was born in Worcester, the son of Benedetto and Philomena (Gatta) Carnevale. Raised on Richmond Ave in the westside neighborhood of Worcester. He graduated from Classical High School, joined the U.S. Army during WWII, serving his country proudly in the Central Europe and Rhineland campaigns. Upon discharge and return home, Anthony married the love of his life Arline L. Jolly. They then began a 70-year life of faith, family and love on Bell hill raising their family until Arline left his side on May 7, 2018. To support and provide for his family, Anthony worked more than 40 years for The Worcester Taper Pin/Wright Machine Company before retiring.
Tony is survived by his son, Gary Carnevale, and his life partner Lesa Patrock of Dudley, his son in law, Reverend Roberto (Robert) Ochoa, of Cleveland Ohio; two granddaughters, Stephanie Carnevale, Ashley Mroczka, and her husband Sebastian; two great grandchildren, Juliana Carnevale and Vincent Carnevale: nieces, nephews and cousins, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, Benedetto and Philomena, his son, James passed away on August 10th 2023, wife Arline in 2018, and brother, Angelo Carnevale.
Anthony was a longtime member of St Peters-St Andrew the apostle Church and a former member of the Worcester Lodge of Elks. He enjoyed taking vacations with his family to Hampton Beach, Bus trips, the casino, and watching classic movies notably westerns. An avid sports fan, Tony loved all Boston Sports, Red Sox being his favorite.
Anthony was known as a hardworking, honorable man who was kind and helpful, would help anyone in need at any time. Tony was the happiest 99-year-old man you could ever meet. He would always greet you with a smile and a laugh and when you left he always made you feel good and say Thanks for coming and you left with smile on your face and in your heart.
Anthonys family would like to thank the Doctors, nurses, and staff of the Knollwood Nursing Center for the care, comfort, and compassion they gave to Tony during his residency.
Friends and family are invited to calling hours from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, November 16th in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. His funeral will be held Friday, November 17th from the funeral home with a procession to St Andrew the Apostle mission, 5 Spaulding Street where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. A burial with military honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton; In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in Tony’s name can be made to: The Knollwood Nursing Center Activities fund, 87 Briarwood Cir, Worcester, MA 01606.
