Anthony P. "Tony" Moossa, 73, of Worcester, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at UMass Hospital.
Anthony is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years, Diane S. (Haddad) Moossa; two adoring daughters, Lauri A. Moossa and her husband Michael L. Georges of Millbury, and Kristin A. Moossa of Worcester; two grandsons, Anthony and Robert Moossa Letourneau; three siblings, Michael, Marilyn, and Janice. He also leaves his brother-in-law, Ronald J. Haddad and his companion Barbara Bucciaglia; two aunts, an uncle, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was born in Worcester, son of the late, Karam and Gladys (Puls) Moossa, and has lived here all his life. He graduated from North High School and Leo’s Beauty Academy.
Anthony enjoyed a lifelong career in the beauty industry. For several years he owned and operated Stephan’s Beauty Supply Company and built a distribution network serving salons across the region. He then founded, alongside his wife, Hair In Motion Beauty Academy which they operated for over twenty years. His dedication to the field of cosmetology was reflected by his many professional accomplishments. He was a member of the Massachusetts State Board of Cosmetology including several years serving as Chairman of the Board. Additionally, he was instrumental in the design of the cosmetology department at the new Worcester Vocational High School.
Anthony loved to golf, a sport he had taken up at an early age, and remembered fondly the special times playing with his father. He was a proud member of Wachusett Country Club and was responsible for organizing many charity golf tournaments over the years to benefit St. Jude's Childrens’ Research Hospitals. He was also a longtime member of the Syrian-American Club of Worcester.
The most important aspect of his life was his commitment to his family. Nothing elicited that infectious smile more than cooking a family dinner on Sundays. He enjoyed watching sports of all types and some of his proudest moments were watching his grandsons play football and basketball.
Anthony was a man who always provided wise counsel and sound judgment for his friends and family; whether it was athletics, business, family matters or even cooking. Anthony possessed great wit, humor and loved to laugh. Anthony was a committed loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
