Antoinette “Toni” (Balestracci) Maguire 97, formerly of 5 Barbara Street, Millbury and Peter Weare Road, Cape Neddick, Maine, passed away on Thursday, April 29th, 2021 while at the Care One Facility in Millbury.
Toni was born in Worcester, daughter of Luigi J. Balestracci and Lucrezia (Porcelli) Balestracci who were originally from Italy. She was educated in the Worcester school system including the New Woodland Preparatory School and also attended Quinsigamond Community College.
Toni worked for many years in an administrative role for the former corporation of Maguire/Lemay & Associates, founded by her husband in 1976. She was also an adult advisor for the Catholic Youth Council of Our Lady of Lourdes church.
Toni is survived by her husband of 75 years, Francis X. “Mac” Maguire, three daughters, Susan Maguire of Nahant, Kathleen Maguire and her husband Bob Goupil of Hudson and Patricia Maguire and her husband Bob Kitchen of Stow; two sons, Michael Maguire of California and Mark Maguire and his wife Karen of Millbury. She is predeceased by a son, Francis X. Maguire, Jr. who died in 1955. She also leaves one granddaughter, Cara Maguire of California and three grandsons, Patrick & Adam Maguire of Massachusetts and Morgan Maguire of California and a great granddaughter, Mabel Maguire.
Toni is also survived by her sister, Jean Drinkwater and her husband Byron of Marshfield. She is predeceased by her brother, Oseo (Peter) Balestracci and three sisters, Mary (Balestracci) Kelly, Rose (Balestracci) Kalashian and Tracy (Balestracci) Brown.
She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, knitting, sewing, and painting. She was quite an artist, painting on assorted mediums from canvas to hollowed out eggs for Easter. She attended art classes at the Worcester Art Museum, an adult woodworking class at Millbury Memorial High School and attended Quinsigamond Community College.
Toni enjoyed reading in the Millbury school system to the students at Elmwood Street School and Millbury Middle School. She also enjoyed her home in Maine, spending summers on the beach at Ogunquit. These were some of the activities that gladdened her heart and kept her busy.
