Antoinette R. Smith

Antoinette R. (Teso) Smith, 102 of Westborough, formerly a longtime resident of Worcester, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 28, 2022 at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing in Westborough.

Ann was born in Worcester, a daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine (Zollo) Teso.  She graduated from Commerce High School and later earned her nursing degree from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1941.  Ann was one of the first medical personnel in the Admitting office at Worcester City Hospital and later worked as a registered nurse retiring after over 30 years.  Ann was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Golden Years.  She and her sisters enjoyed knitting and crocheting especially for the table that they had every year at the Annual Mt. Carmel Christmas Bazaar.

Ann’s husband of 51 years, John F. Smith passed away in 1994.  She is survived by her daughter, Jacquelyn Burke of Glastonbury, CT; four grandchildren, John Burke of New York City, Thomas Burke and his wife Jennifer of McKinney, TX., Anne Burke Knoble and her husband William of Canton, OH and Elizabeth Burke and her husband Nazar Bayat of Glastonbury, CT; four great grandchildren, Jaclyn Knoble Martin of Navarre, OH, Alden Burke of Dallas, TX, Charlie and Samuel Burke of McKinney, TX; several nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by four brothers and six sisters, Salvatore, Cosmo, George and Vincent Teso, Louisa Mancini, Ida Mitchell, Helen “Alice” Leto, Rose Teso, Florence DiPadua and Marguerita Teso.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester.  Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester.  Calling hours for Ann will be held on Thursday, February 3rd from 9-10:15 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St., Worcester prior to departure for her funeral mass.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN. 38105.
