Arthur A. Autorino passed away peacefully February 4, 2024, while on vacation in Georgia, just days shy of his 78th birthday.
Art was born in Worcester, MA on February 7,1946 and grew up in Montclair, NJ where he graduated from Montclair High School. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Virginia followed by a master’s degree in industrial administration from Union College.
Art had a successful career starting as a managerial trainee at GE and moving on to vice president positions at Smith & Wesson, Murray Inc., TheraSense and finally Abbott Diabetes Care
After retiring, Art embraced the beaches and life in Eastham, becoming heavily involved in the community. He was an active member of the Orleans Yacht Club, served as a volunteer at the National Seashore, a board member at the Nauset Light Preservation Society and as treasurer of the Eastham Historical Society. In Eastham he served on the Planning Board for 7 years, the Finance Committee for five years and the Strategic Planning Committee as chairman. Elected to the Eastham Select Board in 2020 , he, was serving as the chairman at the time of his death.
Art will be sorely missed by his family and all who knew him. He was a loving and deeply caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He will be remembered for his love of his Italian heritage, his sense of humor, and his genuine warmth and kindness.
His is survived by his wife Georgia (Wirth) Autorino, his daughters Molly Autorino Krawczyk and her husband Steven Krawczyk, Amelia Autorino and her partner John Simmons and J. Jamie Autorino Pescetti and her husband David Pescetti; grandchildren Jaden Jaclyn, Lucas and Nicholas Krawczyk; brother Robert Autorino and his wife Patsy and many nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Ann and Arthur Autorino and younger brother Jack Autorino
The family will hold a private burial followed by a Celebration of Life at the Orleans Yacht Club at a date to be determined. THE MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St is honored to assist the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in his name can be made to the Eastham Historical Society, rte 6, Eastham, Ma 02642 or the Valerie Fund, 2101 Millburn Ave, Maplewood, NJ 07040.
