Arturo Thomas, 75, of Worcester, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Arturo is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Rhina Thomas; two sons, Tommy Thomas and his wife Ann, and Arthur H. Thomas, all of Auburn; a grandson, Evan Thomas; seven sisters, Altagricia, DiLenia, Rhina, Sara, Carmen, Violeta, and Mary Alcantara; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother and a sister.
Arturo was born in Andres, Boca Chica, Dominican Republic son of the late Arthur Thomas and Martina Alcantara; he was educated in the Dominican Republic and later served in their military. He and his wife moved to Springfield before settling in Worcester in 1982, where they raised their family. He worked as a welder and die maker for Wyman Gordon Company in Grafton for over thirty years, before retiring.
He had been a member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, now Our Lady of Providence Parish in Worcester. He loved baseball and was a fan of the New York Yankees, he enjoyed “The Wonder of It All”, and regular walks for exercise. He did everything for his family and found great joy in the successes they have achieved in life.
Calling Hours for Arturo will be on Tuesday, June 26, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral Service will be Wednesday, June 27, at 12 Noon in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.
