Barbara (Jaston) Johnston

Barbara (Jaston) Johnston, 74, of Millbury, formerly of Worcester passed away unexpectedly at home in her sleep Thursday, October 3, 2024. 

Barbara was born in Worcester, one of five children of Robert F. Jaston, Sr. and Mary A (Migliozzi) Jaston, She grew up on Marlboro St, graduated from Commerce High School and the Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing. Barbara then worked as a Nurse at City Hospital, after City Hospital closed, she worked as a Private Homecare Nurse before retiring. 

Barbara is survived by her three children, Nicole L. Johnston of Oxford, Tiffini B. Johnston, Charles A. Johnston, and his wife, Alida R. Roman all of Worcester; six grandchildren, Kyle, Charli May, Camila, Luciana, Sierra, and Gia; A Niece and Nephew, Dennis and Jody whom she adored like her own along with Jody’s children who lovingly called her “Nani”. She also leaves many extended family and friends. 

In addition to her parents, her four siblings, Robert F. Jaston, Jr, Frank J. Jaston, Judy A. Ross, Joy F. Davini, and a son in law, Steven A. Shepard predeceased her. 

Barbara was a member of St John’s Church. In her life, Barbara's most cherished possessions were her children and grandchildren. She cherished the time she could spend with them, enjoying the holidays, special occasions and family dinners. Barbara was a great cook, loved baking Italian cookies, bingo, the casinos, Hampton Beach, Cape Cod and she had an eclectic taste of music. 

A period of calling hours will be held Tuesday, October 15th from 9 am to 10:30 am in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St followed by a procession to St John Church, 40 Temple Street where her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. Burial will follow in St John Cemetery.
