Barbara A. (Perry) Plaud, 82, a longtime resident of Shrewsbury, passed away surrounded by the ones she loved Wednesday, June 28th, 2023.
Barbara was born in Worcester, April 5th, 1941, the daughter of Alphonse J. and Carmella (Corvino) Perry. Raised in Worcester, Barbara graduated from Quinsigamond Community College with her associate degree in nursing and earned her bachelor’s degree from Becker College. On July 11th, 1964, Barbara married the “Love of her life” Henry Plaud. Three years later, Barbara and Henry built a home in Shrewsbury where they raised their four children with faith, love, and family. Barbara worked as a registered nurse for various medical institutions and hospitals, retiring from Memorial Hospital.
Barbara is survived by her love of 59 years, Henry; her four children, Dr. Joseph J. Plaud PhD and his wife Eve of Naples, Florida, Karyn R. Plaud, Tracy Catarius and her husband David, and Daniel K. Plaud all of Shrewsbury; a brother Kenneth in California; five grandchildren she adored, Cory, Brianna, Alyssa, Matthew, and Alexandria; three great grandchildren, Gabriel, Sawyer and Wesley; Nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Barbara was a member of St Annes church. She was a woman who dedicated her entire life to her husband, children, and grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, the trips to the casino, summer vacation trips, the holidays and family dinner. Her greatest memories were those she spent as matriarch of the Plaud family.
Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Wednesday, July 5th from 4 pm to 7 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. Her funeral will be held Thursday, July 6th from the funeral home with a procession to St Annes church, 130 Boston Turnpike Rd where her Mass will be celebrated at 11 am. Burial will follow in Mt View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the St Jude Children’s research hospital, 501 St Jude Way, Memphis, TN.
