Barbara (Shea) Quinn, 81 of Worcester passed away peacefully Thursday December 5th, 2019 surrounded by loved ones, joining in heaven two of her beloved children, John Joseph Quinn, Jr. and Debra Jean Quinn.

Barbara was born on January 9, 1938, the oldest of six children of Howard Gordon Shea Sr. and Eleanor (Rotolo) Shea.  She graduated from Commerce High school and lived in Worcester most of her life.

Barbara is survived by her devoted two children,  Michael D. Quinn Sr. and Laurie A. Mercak both of Worcester;  her three siblings, Michael Shea and Dorothy Tomaiolo both of Worcester and Eleanor Moss of Millbury;  four adored grandchildren, Jennifer, Michael Jr., Samantha and Braden; three great grandchildren: Michelina, Mackenzie and Madison; Many nieces, nephews and extended family members.   Besides her parents and two children, two brothers, Howard Gordon Shea, Jr. and Wilfred “Freddie” Shea also predeceased her.  

Barbara was beautiful person who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life; spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, history, reading, watching crime shows on television, politics both local and federal and notably traveling with her children.  She enjoyed her trips to New York with her son John the most.  She truly believed that her family was the most important parts of her life.  She was very generous with her love, time and resources, and helped anyone she could.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours Sunday, December 8th from 3 pm to 5 pm followed by a prayer service in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St.  After cremation, Barbara will be entombed alongside her two children in Notre Dame Mausoleum.   Memorial remembrances in her name can be made to the Activities fund, care of Shrewsbury Nursing and rehabilitation center, 40 Julio Dr. Shrewsbury 01545

The Quinn family would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff of the Shrewsbury Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Unit 3 for the care, comfort and compassion the gave to Barbara while she was there.
